Jul. 28th, 2002 06:44 pmWell it's been almost a month so it's time to reformat my laptop. I install so much crap on my computer that after a month or so the performance starts degrading to the point of unusability. I played with Windows XP's handy dandy backup tool and I'm surprised with it. This is not the old Win9x backup program. It has support for networks and seems more robust than the predessors. I backed up my Windows profile directory to my file server and after a final check of my system for files I missed I went ahead with the XP install. I'm getting more organized with each XP install. This time I saved installers for most every program I use on my file server and did the aforementioned backup program. I'm probably going to schedule a nightly backup after the install is done as well. My laptop is always plugged in and online at home, so that'd be useful since I've never been the best at remembering to backups.
