I'm crazy. Or a glutton for punishment. Or something. I just formatted and repartitioned my laptop. Right now RedHat Linux 7.2 is installing on it, and after that I'll reinstall Windows XP and throw System Commander on to manage the whole shebang.
What would make me want to do this? Well for one, I can't seem to get access to our test PC at work, so to get familiar with the new version of System Commander I put it on my laptop. Having that manage one operating system is really pointless, so I got the idea to put Linux on it. I've been to various sites about running Linux on laptops and there are pretty good instructions and caveots out there. Much better and friendlier than the ones for putting Linux on a desktop.
I was also fed up with how poorly Windows was running on my laptop. I'm not sure what exactly the problem was, but performance was absolutly horrable. It'd hang for a second as I was trying to do anything. Move the mouse around, watch a video, type, whatever. So a reinstall was necessary.
And pretty soon I'll be off to Shelby Farms for a pic-a-nic and Ultamate Frisbee. w00t!
