If my suspicions are right, this is really going to piss me off. I got my paystub yesterday for my direct deposit that goes through tomorrow, and while I looked at it, I only glanced to make sure my longevity payment went through. I ranted last month about my credit union continuing to take out my car payment, even though the car was paid off in July. Something told me this morning to check the paystub again, and sure enough, there's an entry for MATCU in the deductions. This time it's for $200 instead of $256.53. I worked out the math and believe it will be coming out like the $256 did, and I don't know what part of "CANCEL ALL MY DIRECT DEPOSIT DEDUCTIONS" the stupid phone person didn't understand. I think they got confused when I mentioned that I had $200 deposited from my paycheck to this account every month (the rest goes into our joint account), but still that's got nothing to do with deductions from direct deposit.

This is going to be a pain in the butt to get everything moved over that still comes out of the credit union account, but I am going to go friday morning before I go to St. Louis and explain to a bank manager why I am canceling my account and get all my money out. It's sad since I've had this account since I was a kid, but I'll get over it and get an account at the credit union on campus (it's free) and use that instead.

What bank is it on campus? Have you thought about going the major bank route so you don't have to deal with foreign ATM charges? FTB has nice options... a checking account that is free as long as you have one direct deposit a month, a first banking reserve that saves you tons of money in the event of an overdraft, not to mention interest-bearing checking accounts. Plus, have you seen our online banking? I'm one of the three people that QA tested it before it went live. :-P

Ah, the benefits of being at the #2 bank in the US (market capitalization of $1,447,538,298,000) compared to #37 ($37,471,580,000).
