I finished paying off my car in June and was told that they would stop taking the money out of my direct deposit with the august paycheck since I didn't get whatever cancelation paperwork done in time for July. They are still taking it out and the first person I called wouldn't tell me if they even had my paperwork. I think he didn't even want to deal with me. He only asked for my account number, birthday, and last four digits of my SSN. I just called back and the girl asked for my account number, name, and last four of my SSN. She's also actually trying to help me a little bit.
What she found out was that "the cards have to be turned in by a specific date for them to take affect, and it would take affect on September 29th." My response was that they told me this last month and it would be the end of August. She couldn't tell me the date the card was received at the main office from the branch, but when I filled out the card in July (for the second time) I watched the lady fax the card and call someone in Electronic Services in addition to sending it in the normal way.

If this happens again in September I will likely close my account with the credit union. This is crazy. I'm glad I wasn't counting on this money for something specific. Why should I have to fill out paperwork in the first place? If the loan is finished, and I go in to get my title they should have had me fill out whatever I needed to fill out right there, but they never mentioned it.
