this is why I don't answer my home phone

I never answer my home phone. It used to be because of bill collectors, but I've got that under control now. Now it's because I don't recognise any of the names. My phone just rang and the name read AT&T followed by other acronyms. I went ahead and answered it and got this message:

"This is a collect call from "Bob," an inmate at the shelby county correctional institution. To accept the charges press 3, to decline press 0."

I immediately pressed 0 and hung up. Why the heck are inmates at the correctional institute calling me? All my friends and family have my cell phone number, and my home phone is strictly for my DSL. Who had this number before me and why, after living here for over 3 years, are they still calling it?

You have been randomly selected from the PHONE BOOK. My former friend Laura was written to and called about monthly by this creepy inmate she'd never met- she called the Shelby County prison and said to stop the guy from calling.

They said they can't do anything because he's just a person using the phone book. Creepy, isn't it? She did make a request that he stop and he stopped.

That's what used to happen to me. I'd get those calls in the middle of the night - I'd hang up and then they'd call right back, over and over again. It made me so scared that Evan would have to come over. Then my boss told me that it was a phone scam and not a real inmate calling, so don't worry.

Are you still living in Georgian Woods? If memory serves right, we started getting odd calls almost right after we moved in... Who knows. The phone number may have belonged to Bob's old flame... :)

yeah, I'm still there. I've just renewed my lease for the final time. When it expires next April I'll be moving into the apartment that we'll be in after the wedding.
