BULL FRIGGIN CRAP.
I still don't have my car. Here's a summary of my week. Monday I finally took my car in because it's been giving me problems and I figured it was the sparkplugs. They said before they could do anything they had to do a tuneup, which would replace the sparkplugs. I thought that was great. All my problems would be fixed with one trip. They replaced the plugs with friggin platinum plugs. I'm not a mechanic but I just figure that since it says platinum that they have other kinds as well, and platinum rings are expensive, so I can imagine the plugs are too. The tuneup cost me $266. Things are great.
I got my car back and Tuesday I call in sick because I have a headache. Around noon I get out to go run some errands and get some lunch. At the McDonald's drive through my car starts to overheat, so back to Gateway it goes. I tell them it's got a coolant leak, because my automotive detective skills deduced that there was no coolant in the coolant thingie, and it wouldn't hold any new coolant, so there must be a leak. So they do a pressure test and tell me it's the water pump. Feeling like I have no other choice because I need my car, I have them replace it. $335 later it's fixed. I'm happy and after work Teresa and I take my car to get dinner and run some errands.
When we're on our way back to her place it almost overheats again. I put some more coolant in it and it seems to hold, but at this time I'm extremely pissed off. Back to Gateway this morning. They say it's the fan and it'll cost $170 to replace. I about blow up. I ask why they didn't notice it Monday or Wednesday and they say that it isn't something they look for in the tune-up and yesterday it was in for a coolant leak, so it's not something they would have looked for then either. Don't they have equipment that does an overall diagnostic on cars? I told him I was planning on being able to take my car to St. Louis this weekend and threw a fit because of how much time I've had to be in their shop this week and they're going to cut me some slack with the labor costs, but I'm not sure how much.
If I treated my non-technical computer users the way they're treating me with my car I'd be a rich jerk. I don't know how they can live with themselves.
After this they're never getting any of my money again.
