I'm done with my first day here in LA. I flew from Memphis to Phoenix this morning, then from Phoenix to LA. In my short layover in Phoenix, I had to run from one end of the airport to the other...for the same stinking airline. It was at least a mile. I'm glad my layover Monday is a few hours, so I'll take my time. My shins are burning from walking really fast (don't ask, I walk funny).

When I got to LA I went to pick up my rental car with the Hertz Neverlost system, and through my day I've found how wonderful of a system it is. It automatically corrects your course if you make a long turn, which I did a few times as I learned the system. I hooked up with Chad and got a quick tour of his office, but we didn't get to do lunch since my plane was so late arriving. I'll have my people call his people...or we'll just eat together as the weekend progresses. As he had to go back to work (HA HA! [/nelson]) he told me where his place was, and also that a mall and the beach were near, so I went to his place to drop off my stuff and headed to San Marino and the mall. I hadn't had anything to eat at this point except for some peanuts on my first flight and some peanut butter ritz sandwich bites before the second. I was hungry and a headache was looming. At the mall I found a place called "Memphis Rotissery" that had fried chicken, BBQ chicken and Beef Briscuit. What's Memphis about any of these things? Absofrigginglutely nothing. So I got a burger from the place next door.

After I ate I went to check out the beach. It was very neato. I got lots of pictures that will be uploaded when I get a chance. There's an amusement park on the pier that I didn't check out, and I didn't feel like walking on the sand much, so I went back up to check out the Promenade. Lots of neat stores there, apparently I missed the Apple Store though. I'm gonna have to go back before I leave. I ended up at Borders and signed up for a day of T-Mobile internet to catch up on stuff, then met Chad to go to the Dodger game tonight. Going to a Dodger game in Dodger Stadium was a lifelong dream of mine, and it was great. Chad and I talked about pretty much anything and everything, and the Dodgers came back from a 3-1 deficit and won the game. We had the cheap seats and the crowd was more into it than any baseball game I can remember going to in the past. It was great.

Now I'm about to go to sleep and get ready for tomorrow and BotCon 2004!

OOOH! I'm so glad you're having a good time. =)

Everyone assumes that the only thing Memphis is good for food-wise is BBQ, that's why. But they didn't have fried pickles and that's a TRUE Memphis specialty.
