Currently I have 379 vacation hours to use. That works out to 50.533333333333333333333333333333 days off (at 7.5 hours a day). I need to use up some of the 154 hours(about 20.53 days) or they'll get turned into sick leave at the fiscal year and yesterday we were told that we needed to use up some time. My problem is when I take off people still call, or they "don't get my e-mail saying I'm going to be off" and have an emergency and I end up coming in anyways. I need to find a nice short trip to go on where cell phones don't work.

You could also "accidentaly" leave your cell phone at home, or forget to charge it, etc... :P

I lost it for about 2 months, so I think I've used that excuse up.

Wow, can you take a really long leave? Or can you start working 3-day weeks or something? I'd just have a big sign up in your office that says if you're not in, it's probably cause you're trying to use up vacation days. :)

I could, if everyone else wasn't going to do the same thing. Some people are taking June off. I'm gonna see if my boss lets me take a few fridays off.

Allow me to suggest this:
Turn cell phone OFF (it's that button in the corner)
Leave pocket PC at home (trust me, real life is so much better)
Drop a spinning pencil on the floor- the direction it points in is the direction you drive. Until dark.
Get a hotel room. Spend the next two days exploring that area.

It's really much more fun than planning something. But bring a chick with you.

If I'm in town I have to have the cell phone on. I'm salary and always on call for the VP and President. However when I do go out of town the work cell stays at home. I keep my personal with me for emergencies.
I'm dying to get back to Hot Springs. I'm going to see if we can do that soon.
