PETA is coming after the UofM because of our live tiger mascot, TOM II. They haven't even come to visit and see TOM's habitat. they're environmental wackos.

Oh please... Tigers in captivity live TONS longer than tigers in the wild. And it's not like we mistreat him or anything. He was raised in captivity... what do they want us to do, release him into the wild???

they want him to go to a federal habitat or something. They think that students have physical contact with him, which never happens.

Well, PETA is just a group of quasi-intellectuals who believe that animals are people too. Maybe they should be the ones to try to free Tom II. If we're lucky, Tom might take offense to having to leave his home and tell them what he thinks of the whole idea. =)
