May. 21st, 2003 10:39 amI finally broke my silence. I have had a bad habit at work of opening my mouth and promptly getting in trouble because of it. The past few months I've held my tongue and it's been tough. This stupid wireless implementation on campus had finally made me fed up and I've sent an e-mail to one of the people about it. I think it's pretty emotionless (which is where I usually have problems and get in trouble), so I should be ok.
In my opinion, this wireless client stuff seems way too complicated. If it takes me this long to get it working, imagine the frustration normal users will have with it. I would like to suggest that some compromise be made in the middle ground between ease of use (which the current system and what I've seen of the new one both have none of) and security. As it is right now, anyone can plug into a wall jack, netreg their computer, and be on the network. I don't see how that's any more secure than being able to input a WEP key and a non-broadcasted SSID in the wireless settings and then netreg. Can you please pass these comments on to whoever else is working on the wireless project.
Anyway, I'm bidding a fond farewell to the Tiger Den's Taco Bell. It's now closed and Chick-Fil-A is moving over to replace it. No word on what's going to replace CFA, but it's a sad and happy move. No longer will $5 be able to fill me up at the Tiger-Den. But I will have good Chiken close to me now. w00t.
