Apr. 12th, 2003 02:55 amI've pretty much finished a reinstall of everything on my laptop. my hard drive died a few weeks ago, and although I got the replacement in last week, I didn't have the time to migrate from the 20GB I had in there in place of the 40GB that died. My goals for this re-install were to do it right. Too often I halfway do an install for my computer and forget about apps or leave something halfway configured. This time I've done it right. My browsers have all the right plugins, my e-mail client's setup right, my media player's ready to go. I've just got a few more things and it'll be done. I've found that the classic look in Windows XP is a LOT faster than the new prettified look. I know I've been told this for a while now, but I've never focused on installing a system optimized like this before. So I'm now using that mode. A few notes so I don't forget.
In other news, Teresa and I saw Basic tonite. It was a great flick. You think you figure it all out, then they change it on you. We loved it. Leaving the theater, I saw an old friend of mine from high school that I'd lost touch with. He'd gone on to be in the Wringling Bros. Circus and got burnt out and is back in Memphis now. Don't know if he remembered me as well as I do him (curse my long-term memory of friends!), but seeing him again is one item off the "regrets that I'll likely never be able to do" list. I gave him a business card, so hopefully he'll get in contact with me again and we'll catch up. If not, it's still good to have seen him.
Now, to bed! Goooooodnite nurse!
- install Dreamweaver and Homesite
- setup the Axim and Bluetooth connection
- install VirtualDub and restore the logo bitmap I made last week
- thouroughly test Winamp to make sure all video files play fine
