I never realized how racist some members of my "family" can be. Today I had "Christmas" at my dad's with his wife, her parents, my sister, and my grandmother on my dad's side. My sister had told me about some comments my dad's wife (I refuse to refer to her as a step-mother because that implys some sort of authority over me. more on her in a bit.) and her parents have made but this is the first time i've heard them myself. When asked what he wanted in his coffee, her dad answered n* black. He's really old, but that really isn't an excuse. Seeing that kind of ignorance was only topped by my dad's wife referring to the midtown IHOP as dirty because it's "full of blacks." We were talking about places open late, then places with bad service. Sure the service there is pretty bad, but the problem has nothing to do with race. I pretty much shut up after that and just waited until I could go home.

I'm fed up with this whole mess of having to deal with her family now and don't really care much what I say and who's feelings I hurt. In the past my dad's wife has broken up more than just my parent's marrige from what I've gathered. My dad cheated on my mom with her, and not a year after my parents got divorced he married her. Soon thereafter she got a new BMW Roadster. I'm sure that was from my college tuition and some stuff for my sister that my dad couldn't afford. I hate how I have to be fake around them because my father did this and ruined my family. I think I work up forgiveness for them, and I have rebuilt my relationship with my dad some, but then I have to be around her and her parents and it all goes to crap again. Her mother is SO freaking annoying and always has to have attention. I ignore them and talk to my sister or grandmother or some other real family member whenever I have to be around them.
