Nov. 12th, 2002 08:16 pmI've been playing with the XP Support tools found on the XP CD (in Support\tools of all places) tonite. I went there to install Sysprep on my laptop but saw a setup.exe and decided to click. After I did a complete install from running the setup I read the readme and saw the commands available. Copied from the readme they are:
Tools Documented But Not Installed In This Release
The following tools are documented in the Support Tools help file (Suptools.chm) but are not installed in this release.
Tools Not Documented
The following tools install when the Complete checkbox is selected
during setup. However, these tools are not documented in a separate Help file.
For most command-line tools, you may type /? (for example, apmstat /?) at the command
prompt for syntax help.
The following tools install when the Complete checkbox is selected
during setup. However, the Help for these tools contains the Windows 2000 version and is not included in Suptools.chm. The help for these tools can be launched from the help menu option of the tools or it can also be launched from the command line by typing the help file name directly.
The following scripts install when the Complete checkbox is selected
during setup. Help is not included for these scripts. For more information, see the Iadstools.doc and Clonepr.doc files.
What excited me was wsremote.exe. it's basically a shell you can run on a system then connect to it remotely. there are a lot of other tools, but wsremote will keep me from having to go to remote desktop so often now. :) I'm such a geek
