Aug. 7th, 2007 03:45 pmLast weekend I did something I said I'd never do again. I bought a Dell for home use. And not just any Dell, an Inspiron. For anyone that wasn't reading my blog back then (I think I posted it all on a web page and then an old personal blog), from some time in 2000 until some time in 2002 (stupid me didn't timestamp the entries) I went through absolute hell with a Dell laptop I bought.
This weekend we decided to replace the old computer we have acting as our file server at home with a new small computer. I did a lot of looking around, and we decided to go with the Inspiron 530s despite my previous problems with Dell. The Inspirons are no longer laptops apparently, and this is the best deal I could get short of building my own. It cost around $630 and it's coming with FreeDOS included as the operating system. I'm planning on putting Linux on there and didn't want to get Windows if I didn't have to.
( full specs behind here )
If we can save $50/month off our utilities then this is going to be worth it.
And it just shipped! whooo!
