frustrations and adreneline
Jun. 14th, 2003 10:15 pmTeresa was supposed to have cable today, but due to the incompetancy of either Time Warner or her new apartment (The Echelon at the Ballpark in downtown) she doesn't, so I'm typing this from their "web room" which is a mini "lab" with locked down computers that I'll play with more seriously at a later date. ;)
Due to the lack of entertainment and the decision to skip the $3 concert at Mud Island that we had planned on going to (Jeremy + hot, muggy weather = passing out or getting sick, or both), we went to Muvico to see Hollywood Homicide. Overall, great movie. At the end, though, as movies are doing now they have a scene while the credits rolled. As soon as the scene started, but before the credits started, lights came on in the back. Not dimmed overhead lights, but bright white ones that bleached out the screen and ruined the end of the movie for me. I like to stay until at least the credits start going over a black screen, but I've been known to even stay until the end. THAT'S when the lights should come on. If you must, have the overhead lights on a bit, but don't ruin the end for people that like to stay. I was in an aggressive mood already from the lack of cable, a bad experience last nite at peabody place (that Teresa might write about), and having to deal with my dad's wife and her family tomorrow, so I stopped by the customer service desk on the way out. There was an important looking guy there with asst. manager or something on his tag, so I went straight to him. I relayed my experience and how it's annoying and he gave me 2 free vouchers (good for anything but premiers and giant screen movies). He had just given some to the people in front of me so I don't feel so alone now. This is so not like me to be so agressive, but it felt good standing up and doing this. What's funny is that as I was complaining to the guy, I recognise the music playing. "I can only imagine" by Mercy Me. It's a Christian worship song that I've been listening to a lot recently. I don't know how that fits in with anything else, but it amused me. Now we're off to Blockbuster to get some movies to tide us over because there's nothing else to do.
